We’ve paved the road for many, even cut down the weeds for a few. We are the stooped old men and women of yesterday. We still make mistakes and sometimes we are grumpy, but we’ve walked some rough roads and most were rocky. We have loved and lost. Lord we have lost so many. We have nearly given up at times. We have trembled through painful changes and fought the devil with all we had a few times. We have called on God and then rejected Him time and again. We’ve buried parents, spouses and sometimes children and cried rivers of tears. When you look at an old person, you’re seeing lifetimes…strength, love , pain, and even hate but also a lot of sorrow. But you see a lot of happiness as well. Don’t look through the old folks…see them, feel their pain, lend them a shoulder to cry on if they need it.
